Barbara Jean Brzozowski Obituary

Barbara Jean Brzozowski (nee Bickert), 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 14, 2024 in Lexington, Kentucky at the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital with her children by her side.

Barb was born to the late Charles "Buck" and Madeline Smith Bickert on June 29, 1952 in Buffalo, New York . She was a very faithful Christian who gave selflessly to those around her. She touched the hearts of everyone she met and rarely met a stranger. She was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service who resided for many years in Lackawanna, NY, where she raised her children. Barbara's family was her life; she loved spending time with her 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

Barb would always say yes to some Schlotzsky's pizza, Tim Hortons coffee, an afternoon of shopping, and partaking in shenanigans. Barb was a "have dessert first" type of woman who felt rules were meant to be bent and that they were mere guidelines instead. She was an advocate for mental health and in her family is well known for inventing the "mom's holiday" and granting them often throughout her lifetime whenever a break was needed. She coined the catchphrase 'I would say yes' when her opinion was sought and wouldn't hesitate to tell you "don't tell me what to do" when she deemed it necessary. She set and holds many records in Bedrock Bowling.

Dearest Mother of Brandon (Lindsey) Brzozowski, Melissa Brzozowski (Stephen Koroluk), and Ashton (Amanda) Barrie. Loving Grandma of Alyssa, Adam and Alexander Brzozowski and Ava Barrie. Former wife of Daniel Brzozowski.

Barbara is also survived by her sister MaryAnn Mesler, brother Doc (Donna) Bickert, and honorary sisters Kim Nuncio and Rita Pawlak. She is preceded in death by her brothers Timmy, Tommy, Chuck, Ed, and Frank Bickert.

In accordance to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday; February 4th from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at NORMAN E.
