Marc Jace Colvin Obituary

Marc Jace Colvin of Gowanda, sailed peacefully away from this life on February 20, 2024, with his children by his side.  He was born on October 23, 1955, the son of the late Roy Colvin and Claribel (Hoth) Colvin Brumagin.  He spent his early childhood on the family farm in Cherry Creek, and most of his life as a resident of the Cherry Creek/South Dayton area.

Marc graduated from Pine Valley Central School in 1973 and joined the U.S. Navy in 1975 where he served as an Aviation Electronics Technician.  He was assigned to the aircraft carrier, the U.S.S. Nimitz based out of San Diego, CA.  Following his four-year military service, he worked at the Moench Tanning Factory in Gowanda for several years.  He resumed his interest in electronics at Jamestown Community College, graduating with an Associate Degree.  Marc began his career as an electrician apprentice at IBEW 106 where he went on to earn his journeyman card.  He spent most of his career working as an electrician of Union Local 106, Jamestown, NY until he retired in 2017.  During his tenure as an electrician, Marc mentored several apprentices who appreciated his knowledge, time, and patience with them.

Marc loved fishing, golfing, playing quoits and darts, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his friends and family.  A farm boy at heart, Marc loved the outdoors and all animals, especially his many pets. He also enjoyed working with kids and coached T-ball and Little League baseball, as well as Pee Wee and Midget Football in the Pine Valley District.  For him, coaching was about teaching the sport, working together as a team, and giving every child an opportunity to play, rather than winning all the games.

In addition to his parents, Marc joined his brothers Ned and Brad Colvin and his son, Joshua Stull in the next world.

Marc is survived by his children, Bryana (Larry), Dean (Karly), Kristen (Cameron), Tyler (Maria), and Erica (Joshua); a sister, Joy (Kevin); a sister-in-law, Patricia (Ned); and grandchildren Charles, Jace, Jaxon, Emma, Evelyn, and Marisa. He is also survived by 11 other grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and numerous friends.

Marc will be remembered as a warm, fun-loving guy with a heart of gold.  He could light up a room or a party with his great laugh and the very best smile! Marc always encouraged his children to find “c-c-c-courage” to face life’s challenges!

Donations can be made in Marc’s name to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) as a remembrance of his love for animals.

A Celebration of Life is planned to honor Marc’s life with family and friends on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 3pm-9pm at the World War II Vets Club, 216 Lake Shore Drive E., Dunkirk, NY  14048.
