William P. Whitlock

of New York City, at the age of 88 on March 24th, 2023.

Son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (nee Eagan) Whitlock.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church, 1140 Abbott Rd., South Buffalo on Saturday April 1st at 9:30 a.m.  Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

William (Bill) Whitlock passed away peacefully in New York on March 24, 2023. He was 88 years old.

         Bill spent his early years in Lackawanna , New York where he acquired the nick mane “Whiz”.  His theatrical career was initiated at  St Joseph’s University in Philadelphia where he appeared in numerous college productions. As a member of the Air National Guard and after College, Bill combined his love   of automobiles and vintage cars with his love of the theater.   He  performed at the Theater of the Living Arts in Philadelphia , was a co-founder of the Manning Street Theater and performed and/or directed the Robin Hood Theater.  Bill was a Director /Actor with the Player’s Club of Swarthmore for more than 10 years and directed numerous plays including, “The Subject was Roses,” “The Cave Dwellers”., “Country Girl” and “Never Too Late” among others.

      In 1975 Bill founded WTL Productions a video production company  and produced and directed  educational video programs and programs of a Documentary nature in conjunction with Seton Hall University and other non-profit institutions. These included, a 15 Part Television series on “Women and the Law,” a 10 Part Television series on “International Law” ,
Education, translated into Spanish , Russian and Chinese and funded by the US Department of Education.  Other programs included “Four Supreme Court Justices From New Jersey” funded by the NJ Committee on the Humanities,” The Italians and the Creating of America”, funded by the Columbus Citizens Foundation, a documentary on the Holy House of Loretto with Pope John Paul II produced on location in Loretto, Italy, a documentary on Padre Pio produced on location at San Giovanni Rotando,Italy  and many many others.

     Twenty years ago, Bill and WTL Productions relocated to New York City where Bill continued to produce educational videos and  to enjoy the theater and the Arts

While in New York, Bill also  performed at several of the Comedy Clubs as a stand up Comic .

     Bill is survived by his companion Elizabeth Defeis in New York and several nephews and nieces in Philadelphia.

      Bill was a spiritual person, devoted to St Pio  and donations in his memory memory can be sent to:
